Cumulus DFW’s Janet DuPree and Donovan Lewis Honored by Radio Ink as Future African American Leaders in Radio

DALLAS, TX, March 16, 2022 — Cumulus Media (NASDAQ: CMLS) announces that Janet DuPree, Digital Sales Manager, Cumulus Dallas-Fort Worth, and Donovan Lewis, On-Air Host of The Norm and D Invasion on Sportsradio 96.7FM/1310 AM The Ticket/KTCK-FM, have been honored by Radio Ink Magazine as Future African American Leaders in Radio. Lewis and DuPree were profiled in the March edition of Radio Ink, a monthly print and online publication serving the radio industry.

As to her success as Digital Sales Manager for Cumulus Media’s six radio stations serving Dallas-Fort Worth, DuPree said: “I believe the old saying ‘Do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life’ applies to me. I’ve always enjoyed my work and interacting with advertisers and my colleagues. I’m a self-proclaimed overachiever, and I get satisfaction from tackling challenging opportunities and constantly learning something new. I love the motto of ‘Never stop being a student’.” She also noted: “Our communities are becoming more multicultural, and I believe it’s vital for our industry to be reflective of our evolving communities.”

Donovan Lewis co-hosts the popular DFW sports radio show, The Norm and D Invasion, with Norm Hitzges on KTCK The Ticket weekdays from 10:00am-Noon. Lewis and Hitzges have also co-hosted the Dallas Cowboys Postgame Show since 2007. Lewis was also co-host on BaD Radio with Bob Sturm and Dan McDowell from 2006 to 2015, after joining “The Ticket” from Cumulus sister station KDBN “93.3 The Bone.”

Lewis attributes his success in radio to several things. He said: “First, my willingness to pay my dues to learn my craft and be a good teammate. Second, my authenticity. I grew up in a family that is proud of our heritage as African Americans, and all aspects of that rich culture were always on display in our house and in the neighborhood where we lived – from the music to the dances to the slang to the literature to the swag to the resilience. I loved it all and soaked it all in and continue to embrace it. I believe all of that comes through when I am on air.”

Lewis likens his passion for radio to a favorite Maya Angelou quote, noting: “I’ll never remember all of the things that I’ve heard on radio over the course of my life, but the thing I can never forget is how radio has always made me feel. It has always left me feeling informed, entertained, engaged, current, enthused, contemplative, etc. I just love how radio makes me feel.”
